I’ve been digging into server-authoritative visibility systems for our competitive titles, specifically how you handle occlusion culling to suppress wallhack rendering without adding meaningful latency. When you run visibility queries server-side, how are you structuring the spatial partitioning—BVH traversal vs. uniform grids—and what’s your tolerance for false negatives where a legitimate player fails to render an opponent around a corner? I’ve read that naive frustum culling on the server reintroduces the exact exploit you’re trying to patch, so I’m curious how you reconcile authoritative occlusion with client-side prediction.

On the math side, I’m trying to pin down how you model the visibility cone intersection for moving entities. Are you doing continuous collision detection on the view frustum planes each tick, or sampling at fixed intervals and extrapolating? And how do you handle the edge cases—thin geometry, window frames, partial occlusion—where a binary occlude/not-occlude decision creates flickering or, worse, a detectable pattern that cheaters can reverse-engineer? Would love to hear how you’ve balanced deterministic proofs against runtime performance in production.
