I’ve been running controlled tests on the PAW3395 versus the PAW3950 across different surfaces—felt pad, cloth, and a glossy desk—and I’m seeing some genuinely inconsistent tracking behavior that I can’t cleanly attribute to surface alone. On the 3395, I’m hitting occasional dropouts at high DPI during rapid snappy flicks, especially on a slightly reflective surface, and the lift-off distance feels inconsistent between the factory tuning and what my polling rate demands. For anyone who’s done deep diving here: how do you handle the interaction between image acquisition rate and motion sync when you’re pushing 1000Hz+ polling? Does the 3950’s higher native tracking speed actually eliminate the flick dropouts, or are you just masking them with better firmware interpolation?

I’m also trying to isolate whether LOD jitter is a sensor artifact or a driver-level timing issue. When you tune LOD aggressively low for competitive play, do you notice the sensor misreading micro-lifts as continuous contact, or does it start dropping frames on subtle movements? And practically—what’s your strategy for mitigating bottlenecks when the host USB polling and the sensor’s frame generation fall out of phase during sustained rapid motion? Has anyone reverse-engineered the polling-to-acquisition sync window, or is this mostly still trial-and-error in software?
