PixArt PAW3395 and PAW3950 Optical Sensor Architecture and Surface Tracking: Competitive Benchmark Analysis and Железо Interactions

[Logan Bailey]

I’ve been benching the PAW3395 vs PAW3950 across a range of surfaces and I’m hitting a wall on the numbers. Both sensors advertise 26k DPI and 650 IPS with 8k polling, but real-world tracking looks inconsistent depending on my mousepad and the sensor’s lift-off distance. My question is practical: for competitive FPS titles, what LOD tuning have you found keeps the sensor locked onto a woven glass-fiber pad without false polling on micro-lifts during fast flicks? And more importantly, have you measured any frametime consistency issues between the two sensors at 8k polling, or does the 3950’s higher image acquisition rate actually introduce jitter at lower DPI settings like 800?

On the hardware interaction side, I’m curious whether you’ve noticed motion sync algorithms (like the ones in the latest driver stacks) interfering with raw input, or whether running them disabled gives you cleaner tracking data. Does anyone have empirical frametime graphs showing how these two sensors behave under GPU/CPU contention? I’d love to know if the 3950 scales better on lower-end rigs or if the 3395 is the safer pick for tournament environments where your rig might be on borrowed hardware.
