OLED Instant Pixel Response Time vs Fast IPS Overdrive: Historical Paradigm Evolution and Next-Gen Architectural Projections

I’ve been running competitive FPS titles on both platforms, and the OLED-to-IPS overdrive debate is getting stale without harder data. Fast IPS overdrive still dominates tournament rigs for good reason, but I want to understand where the empirical tradeoffs actually sit now. When you push overdrive voltage aggressive on a Fast IPS panel, how do you personally balance the inverse ghosting artifacts against the residual motion blur? At what point does overshoot become more disruptive to target acquisition than a slightly slower transition, and what tools do you use to measure it—fraps ghosting demos, custom oscilloscope scripts, or just muscle memory after long sessions?

On the OLED side, the 0.03ms GtG claims are marketing gold, but subpixel inversion and burn-in concerns keep me hesitating on a rig I rely on for ranked grinding. How much real-world difference have you noticed between OLED’s native emission and an IPS panel with the most refined overdrive curve in terms of tracking moving targets in fast sprays? And looking ahead, what next-gen architectures are you most excited about—MicroLED, QD-OLED refinements, or new IPS overdrive algorithms?
