I’ve been running side-by-side A/B tests between my LG 27GR95Q OLED and a 245Hz Fast IPS panel across CS2 and Valorant, and I’m chasing the practical impact of that near-instantaneous OLED GtG versus tuned overdrive curves. Here’s where I need the community’s input: for competitive FPS titles where you’re tracking fast horizontal sprays, have you actually measured a tangible difference in input lag or frametime consistency between an OLED’s subpixel inversion and a Fast IPS running near its overshoot ceiling? I’ve noticed OLEDs eliminate ghosting entirely but sometimes introduce inverse ghosting when overshoot calibration goes wrong—what’s your sweet spot for the overdrive multiplier on your IPS panel, and how do you detect artifacts without a high-speed camera?

Plus specifically, does anyone have empirical frametime data showing whether OLED’s instantaneous response actually translates to lower 1% low frametimes under heavy particle effects, or is the real-world advantage mostly theoretical? And for those who’ve switched from a heavily overdriven IPS to OLED—did you notice any input lag variance between the panels at high refresh rates, or does the OLED’s near-zero response time keep latency perfectly stable regardless of scene complexity? Curious what real data exists out there beyond the marketing specs.
