I’ve been running AWP flick drills for the past three months and I keep circling back to whether weight reduction actually helps or if I’m chasing placebo. I’ve gone through three mice now—drilled out shells, honeycomb vs. single-piece skeleton—and honestly the difference in snap accuracy feels negligible, but I can’t shake the fatigue argument. When I’m pulling 400+ DPI with tiny wrist adjustments, does the reduced inertia really matter once your muscles adapt, or is it mostly a mental edge?

Here’s what’s really got me confused: the center of gravity shift. When you hollow out the front half to cut grams, you’re moving the balance point backward, and I’ve read that changes how the mouse pivots on the pad. Has anyone done controlled testing where they kept total weight identical but only shifted the CoG? I want real numbers on micro-correction accuracy, not anecdotes.

And separately—does lighter gear even matter if your frametime spikes are inconsistent? I’ve noticed my 240Hz setup has jitter that swamps any physical advantage. How do you even isolate hardware scaling from raw mouse feel when benchmarking?

The physics here is where most people oversimplify, so let me break it down. When you reduce a mouse’s mass, you’re not just lowering F = ma for linear acceleration — you’re changing the moment of inertia (I = Σmr²), which is what actually govern

The common assumption that “lighter is always faster” misses the key variable: mass distribution relative to your rotation point, not just total grams. What actually governs micro-correction speed is the moment of inertia (I = mr²), so a 5g of weight near the skates contributes quadratically more to rotational resistance than 5g sitting at the center of mass. When you’re doing those tiny wrist flicks and finger taps, you’re essentially pivoting
