I’ve been A/B testing my glide setup across three surfaces for the past few weeks—my control pad is a Speedunk cloth, a Razer Strider Cordura hybrid, and the Artisan Hien glass. The static-to-dynamic friction transition is where I’m seeing the real story. On the glass, the initial breakaway feels almost too aggressive; there’s a noticeable “catch” before the dynamic glide kicks in, which wrecks my micro-adjustments during long-range flicks. Meanwhile the Cordura sits right in the middle but seems to lose grip as humidity climbs past 60%—my tracking drifts mid-game in summer sessions.

For those running glass surfaces, how are you handling the condensation issue? Does a light wipe actually restore traction, or does moisture permanently alter the PTFE-surface interface? And for the Cordura folks—do you see the friction coefficient degrade linearly over hundreds of hours, or is there a plateau where it stabilizes? I’m also curious whether sapphire skates actually reduce that static catch compared to standard PTFE, or if it’s mostly marketing. What’s your empirical data on skate height versus the breakaway threshold?
