Glass Mousepads vs Cordura vs Cloth: Dynamic and Static Friction Physics: Competitive Benchmark Analysis and Hårdvara Interactions

[Sam Ramirez]

I’ve been running a G-Wolves Hati S with mixed PTFE/sapphire skates on a glass pad for the last six months, and I’m seeing inconsistent micro-adjustments in tracking during long sessions. My hypothesis is humidity drift in the 55-70% range is degrading the static friction threshold, but I can’t isolate whether it’s the pad or the skate composition. For those testing on glass vs. woven Cordura—have you noticed a measurable difference in the initial static friction you need to overcome before the pointer breaks free, and does that change how you tune your DPI acceleration curves?

On the skates, I’ve swapped between pure PTFE, glass, and sapphire and the frametime variance on my 360Hz setup is night and day. Does anyone have empirical data on which skate material holds the most consistent kinetic friction across a full match, especially under sweat and repeated pressure? I’m particularly interested in whether the heavier sapphire skates actually help with micro-correction stability or just add drag on fast flicks. And has anyone benchmarked frametime consistency specifically—like 1% lows—between pad types, or is that mostly anecdotal in our community?
