Real talk on the DMA front—everyone keeps pointing at IOMMU isolation as the silver bullet, but I’m seeing wildly different results depending on the platform. For anyone who’s actually wired up a DMA card (Thunderbolt/FireWire or PCIe capture), what’s your experience with detection thresholds in competitive titles? I’ve been poking at how Fuzzbunch-style and lesser-known tools map their page tables, and the timing between IOMMU page fault logging and driver response seems to be the real vulnerability window.

On the defense side: for folks hardening rigs, how are you handling PCIe configuration space scanning to catch rogue functions before they enumerate? I’ve read that disabling SR-IOU and forcing VT-d/IOMMU into full translation mode helps, but I want real-world numbers. Does software-based IOMMU logging actually keep up with high-frequency DMA bursts, or is the logging latency itself the exploit? And has anyone benchmarked the frame-rate or latency penalty of aggressive IOMMU enforcement during actual gameplay? Curious whether the hardware community’s found workarounds that don’t tank competitive performance.
