Has anyone actually cracked reliable delta compression tuning for fast-paced competitive titles? I’m hitting stale-state desyncs where interpolated actor positions jump back after a burst of high-frequency updates, and I can’t tell if it’s a per-actor delta budget being exhausted or the property filter re-sending full snapshots on every relevancy flip. When you’re pushing sub-100ms input latency, how do you balance bandwidth savings against the visual tearing that comes from dropping interpolation frames? And what’s your go-to method for isolating whether the bottleneck is actually network serialization versus the replication graph’s task scheduling overhead?

On actor dormancy and priority relevancy culling—how are you handling the edge cases where dormant actors wake up mid-animation or mid-projectile, causing visible pop-in or hit-registration desync? I’ve seen cases where culling thresholds cause actors to flicker in and out of relevance at range boundaries, which is catastrophic in ranked play. Do you rely on static distance-based dormancy, or have you implemented dynamic priority scaling tied to the player’s view cone and movement vectors? And critically, how do you debug the failure modes when the replication graph silently stops sending updates for high-priority actors without throwing any warnings?

Delta compression failures in the Replication Graph almost always trace back to one of three things: volatile properties preventing delta stabilization, incorrect spatial grouping, or relevance thrashing. If you’re seeing bandwidth that won’t drop even when everything’s static, check whether any replicated property has sub-frame jitter — things like FVector velocity with floating-point noise, FDateTime timestamps, or per-frame random seeds. These never converge to a stable state, so the engine keeps shipping full diffs. The fix is usually bDormant on truly idle actors plus a netDeltaCompression whitelist, and for the jittery ones, snapping floats to a quantization threshold or masking out the volatile field before it hits the wire.
