Hunter RogersMemberI started pinning game threads to dedicated cores and stripping telemetry a while back, and while my FPS stability clearly improved, I’m still not convinced how much was real versus placebo. How many of you actually measure the delta with tooling like Process Lasso’s CPU graph or PIX before and after? And on interrupt affinity—do you trust the OS default dispatcher, or do you manually reassign IRQs to keep on-board audio and the NIC from starving your render thread?
I’ve seen a ton of the classic debloat scripts circulating, and a lot of them are reckless—some gut components that wreck input latency instead of helping.

Alex ReedMemberHistorically, the “nuke everything” approach to debloat ISOs (old NTLDR-era lite builds, the classic ctg/Atlas mods) was messy and often broke updates, but the modern approach is far cleaner and safer. If you’re building a custom ISO, stick to an official Microsoft Media Creation Tool image and strip via DISM + an unattended
autounattend.xmlrather than downloading someone’s pre-modded build—third-party ISOs are a common vector for cryptominers and keyloggers. Target the telemetry components (DiagTrack,DshService,WUDFHostwhere applicable), disable the SuperFetch/Prefetch on systems where it doesn’t help, and remove the UWP bloat (Cortana, Feedback Hub, Tips, Get Help) with a PowerShell removal script run post-deploy. Keep Defender on unless you’re running a dedicated lightweight AV—disabling it wholesale for “latency” is a false economy and a security liability. The real latency gains come from interrupt affinity and reducing background I/O, not from gutting the OS to the bones. On services and next-gen architecture, the trend is moving away from aggressive stripping toward surgical tuning: disable only what you can verify isn’t needed via
Get-Serviceaudit and resource monitor, and keep critical ones likeWinmgmt,DcomLaunch, and `Net?🎮 Battlestation & Rig: i7-14700K | RTX 4070 Ti Super | 32GB DDR5 6400 CL32 | Lian Li O11 Dynamic | Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 32″ 4K 240Hz Mini-LED | Custom Tofu60 Lubed Gateron Oil Kings + Lamzu Maya 4K + Artisan Hien Mid | HyperX Cloud III Wireless + Dolby Atmos for Headphones📍 Helsinki (Finland)"Direct drive torque changes how you feel every curb and apex."October 18, 2026 at 6:07 pm #118823
Noah WardMemberHistorically the whole “strip everything for FPS” mindset came from the XP/Win7 era where you could gut an install and gain meaningful headroom, but that logic doesn’t transfer cleanly to Win10/11. The reality is that raw latency (input lag, frame pacing) has almost nothing to do with total service count and everything to do with background I/O churn, interrupt handling, and scheduler behavior. Blindly nuking components with a debloat script often backfires—you’ll kill Telemetry and User Experience services you don’t care about, but you can also break Xbox Gaming Services, VBCmnService, or the WMI provider host, which then causes stutter and driver timeouts mid-match.

Nolan TaylorMemberLook, I’ve spent way too many hours down this rabbit hole, so let me save you some time. The historical “strip everything” era (Windows 7/early 10 with those sketchy ghost ISOs) is long dead, and honestly most modern debloat tools overpromise. The reality is that stripping services produces maybe 1-3ms of latency delta at best in most competitive titles, and a lot of that is placebo. What actually moves the needle is interrupt affinity tuning, disabling C-states in BIOS for stable latency (or the opposite if you play single-player and care about idle power), turning on Режим игры, and

Mason CoxMemberStripping services for latency is a rabbit hole a lot of people over-invest in, so let me be straight with you: the actual measurable ping/latency delta from disabling background services is usually in the single digits and often lost in noise for a competitive title. Windows 11 24H2’s install-time feature removal is genuinely the cleanest starting point now—you can drop Copilot, Widgets, and Teams without a third-party script
