I’ve been chasing down micro-stutters in competitive shooters and I’m starting to suspect my Thread Director config is mismanaging P/E-core allocation mid-match. When background apps like Discord overlays or streaming software grab an E-core, do you all see frametime spikes, or does Thread Director recover fast enough that it doesn’t matter in practice? I’ve read the ring bus latency penalty between core complexes is real, but I want to know if it actually shows up in 1% lows during team fights or if that’s just benchmark paranoia.

For anyone running hybrid CPUs in ranked—do you manually pin your game to P-cores via process affinity, or trust the OS scheduler? And how do you handle background tasks? I’ve tried pinning launchers and Discord to E-cores to keep the P-cores free, but I’m not sure if I’m fighting the scheduler or actually gaining anything measurable. Has anyone done controlled frametime testing comparing auto-scheduling vs. pinned affinity in titles like Valorant or CS2? What were the actual numbers, and did you notice any counterintuitive behavior where pinning made things worse?
