I’ve been bench-testing 8000Hz peripherals on my main rig and the polling rate jump from 1000Hz is hitting differently than the marketing copy suggests—my concern is the CPU tax. At 8kHz you’re looking at roughly 8,000 USB interrupts per second per device, and I keep seeing DPC latency spiking during ranked matches even with everything pinned to P0. For anyone running high-polling setups, have you found a polling threshold where the input latency savings actually stop offsetting the interrupt overhead? And more specifically, how are you managing interrupt coalescing versus keeping it disabled—does disabling coalescing on the HID devices meaningfully reduce micro-stutter, or does it just push the load onto the driver stack?

Historically, USB HID polling had brutal inefficiencies at high frequencies, but I’m curious where the community stands now with the newer architectures. Are people seeing real-world gains from things like interrupt endpoint batching, or is the OS scheduler just absorbing the spike? I’ve also read that some of the old “disable power management on USB ports” tweaks from the 1000Hz era are actually counterproductive on 4K/8K rigs. For those pushing into next-gen polling, what’s your take on whether the bottleneck has shifted from CPU interrupt handling to something else entirely, like bus bandwidth or the kernel’s input pipeline?
