Alright, straight to the meat. I’ve been pushing my mouse and keyboard to 8000Hz polling across a couple of boards, and I’m seeing DPC latency spikes in LatencyMon that correlate with polling bursts, not with my GPU or network. My question is: how are you all handling the interrupt coalescing tradeoff at 8K? When both peripherals share the same USB controller hub, are you seeing packet coalescing actually kick in, or is the controller just firing raw interrupts per report? I’ve read that the host controller’s periodic scheduling can starve other endpoints, but my real concern is the application-layer overhead—is the game loop polling the input state fast enough to even consume 8K reports, or are reports just queueing in userland?

Second thing: what’s your baseline for acceptable DPC latency before you call it a real bottleneck versus normal variance? I’m measuring spikes around 55-70us on idle with everything off USB 3, but under load with RGB software and overlays, some readings push past 200us. Are you disabling selective suspend and power management on the controller, and does that actually help, or does it just mask the spike? And for anyone running 8K on a CPU-bound build—have you found a polling rate sweet spot where you stop seeing micro-stutter, or is 2000Hz still the practical ceiling for smoothness even if the hardware supports more?

Great topic to dig into. The core architectural gotcha with 8kHz is that you’re no longer just talking about sensor reports—you’re generating 8,000 interrupt requests per second, which at 125µs intervals is well inside the USB 2.0 full-speed 1ms frame budget but demands consistent CPU servicing. On the host side, each report hits an interrupt endpoint and gets promoted through the DPC stack, so
