Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have announced a multi-wave expansion pass for revealed”>Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, with the final wave restoring four rival lord routes that were originally cut from the game before its September 2026 launch.
The announcement came in a surprise “shadow drop” earlier this week. The expansion pass, now available, will deliver new weapons, allies, outfits, and additional story routes across three waves of content.

Wave One: Prototypes Based on Three Houses
The first wave adds four new weapons to the Fire Emblem”>Fire Emblem roster through the Fortune’s Weave expansion pass on the Nintendo eShop. Though the game labels them “Prototypes,” these relics are based on the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave”>Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
The four weapons and their original owners in Three Houses are:
- Sword of the Creator — Byleth (Sword)
- Areadbhar — Dimitri (Lance)
- Aymr — Edelgard (Axe)
- Failnaught — Claude (Bow)
Wave Two: Outfits and Playable Gods
The second wave, expected to arrive during the 2026 holiday season, adds outfits and new allies. Flame Lords Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda each receive additional outfits that players can swap back to their originals at any time.
These outfits can also be worn by other roster units, allowing players to dress entire factions in the colors of a favorite character.
Players will additionally gain the opportunity to control the Dagdan gods Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah in Part 3, where these godly entities join the Promised One’s army. While not invincible—they can be defeated—their gameplay strength is described as overwhelming.
Wave Three: The Cut Routes Return
The most anticipated wave adds four new stories focusing on rival lords Anatolia, Talimun, Orchel, and Bertrand—characters originally cut from the game.
According to an Intelligent Systems AMA, Intelligent Systems AMA”>Fortune’s Weave initially featured eight protagonists before the team deemed that too ambitious and reduced it to four, adding avatar character Eshmel to tie the routes together. Wave 3 will now cover these previously cut lords.
Fans have requested the return of the cut routes since September, though whether fan demand or pre-existing development drove the decision remains unclear; no release date beyond 2027 has been confirmed for this wave.
