The director of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII trilogy, Naoki Hamaguchi, recently revealed a deeply personal reaction that underscores the emotional depth of the upcoming third chapter.

During an interview with the Brazilian outlet Omelete, Hamaguchi disclosed that he has already completed the game 40 times, and each time a particular scene moved him to tears. This repeated, visceral response highlights the narrative potency that the team has crafted for the final installment.

While he did not name the exact scene, Hamaguchi offered a glimpse into its significance: a pivotal moment where Cloud reflects on his identity and the connections that bind him to Zack and Aerith, a revelation that promises to deepen the trilogy’s emotional stakes.

The team believes their depiction in Revelation hit the mark, and they’re eager for players to experience it.

Having replayed Revelation roughly forty times, he admits the poignant Cloud moment still brings him to tears each time.

Although the remake trilogy largely mirrors the 1997 classic, it often diverges and adds new material, so the scene Hamaguchi references might be a fresh addition rather than a direct lift from the original PS1 title.

During a recent VGC interview, Hamaguchi expressed enthusiasm about how the community would receive Revelation’s conclusion—an ending he notes was conceived from the very start.

While the developer remains tight-lipped about the exact ending of the story, he confirmed that the team had a clear vision for the conclusion from the outset. “We had a general direction in mind from the early stages of development, so we knew where we wanted to take the narrative,” he explained.
