Ferrari, the iconic Italian marque synonymous with high‑performance luxury, has stepped into the electric vehicle arena with the unveiling of its first all‑electric model, the Luce. This four‑door, five‑seater sedan marks a bold departure from the brand’s traditional sports‑car pedigree.
After months of tantalising hints, Ferrari has finally revealed the Luce, showcasing a strikingly futuristic aesthetic that has divided fans and critics alike. The design language is markedly different from the brand’s classic coupe styling, prompting a mix of admiration and skepticism across social media.
Under the hood, the Luce is powered by four permanent‑magnet electric motors: two front units delivering 282 horsepower and two rear units producing a combined 831 horsepower. Ferrari claims the sedan can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, hit 124 mph in 6.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of 193 mph. The vehicle is equipped with a 122‑kWh battery pack, offering an estimated range of up to 330 miles on a single charge.
Production of the Luce will commence later this year in Europe, with a starting price of €550,000 (approximately $640,000). The model is slated to enter the U.S. market in the second quarter of 2027.
The Ferrari Luce stands out in the tech arena because its design was a joint effort between Ferrari and LoveFrom, the boutique studio helmed by former Apple design chief Jony Ive and celebrated industrial designer Marc Newson.
Jony Ive, famed for shaping the visual language of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, has long been a pivotal figure in Apple’s design legacy. Marc Newson, who joined Apple in 2014 to spearhead the Apple Watch’s look, brings a distinct industrial design flair. Together, they now collaborate on the Luce’s sleek silhouette, while Ive continues to partner with OpenAI on next‑generation AI‑powered gadgets.
