In an exciting revelation during today’s Future Games Show, Fireshine Games unveiled a Switch 2 adaptation of Duskfade, a captivating 3D action-platformer that draws inspiration from the golden era of PlayStation 2. The game was initially slated for release on other platforms in 2026, but now boasts an August 13th release date, encompassing the Switch 2 as well.
With echoes of Kingdom Hearts and Jak & Daxter, Spanish developer Weird Beluga is evidently aiming to recapture the enchantment of the early-to-mid 2000s PlayStation 2/GameCube/Xbox era. Publisher Fireshine affectionately refers to it as “a love letter to the PS2 classics”.

Embark on an epic adventure in the darkened world of Duskfade, where the protagonist, Zirian, is on a quest to rescue his sister trapped within the enigmatic Clock Tower. As he navigates through the corrupted landscapes, ranging from ethereal forests and underwater realms to sunscorched dunes and lands above the clouds, each new vista promises unexplored territories. Accompanied by his mechanical ally Cuckoo, Zirian will master the art of slashing, grinding, jumping, and grappling through these stunning environments reminiscent of classic platformers. Each stage presents unique challenges that intertwine precision platforming with action combat, while also encouraging exploration to uncover hidden secrets off the beaten path.
Emotional depth and heart permeate every aspect of Zirian’s coming-of-age journey. Every enemy and challenge he encounters symbolizes a deeper emotional barrier he must surmount to accomplish his critical mission of saving his loved ones and the world. The developer behind this game, known for their 2021 release, Clid the Snail (received “Mostly Positive” on Steam and “Mixed or Average” on PlayStation), is aiming higher with Duskfade.
