Welcome to the Eurogamer community, where passionate gamers gather to discuss everything from the latest triple-A releases to the intricacies of game development. To ensure this remains a positive and enriching experience for everyone, we’ve established a clear Code of Conduct. Let’s dive in!
Building a Respectful Gaming Community
Our primary goal is to foster an inclusive environment where constructive conversations thrive. We want every member – users, moderators, and staff alike – to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and engaging with fellow gamers. This means upholding standards of respect and civility in all interactions.
Think of it this way: we’re building a virtual gaming lounge, not a digital battlefield. While passionate debate is encouraged, outright negativity, personal attacks, and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. We have moderators actively monitoring the community to ensure these guidelines are followed.
The Golden Rules: Be Positive, Be Polite
Here’s the short version of our Code of Conduct:
- Be positive and contribute thoughtful insights that enhance the conversation.
- Treat others with respect and kindness.
- Disagree politely; avoid rudeness and insults.
- Refrain from using discriminatory language or engaging in trolling behavior.
- Don’t waste anyone’s time with spam or relentless negativity.
You’re Our Guest: Rules Apply
Remember, you are a valued guest in our community. While we appreciate your participation, the rules are here to protect everyone. Moderators and staff have the authority to interpret and enforce these guidelines as they see fit. Ultimately, all moderation decisions rest with the editors.
Got Questions? We’re Here to Help
If you have any questions about a moderation decision or wish to discuss the moderation process, please reach out to us directly at [email protected]. Please avoid discussing these matters publicly on the site.
A friendly reminder: Let’s keep the conversations positive and respectful.
What’s Not Allowed?
To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, we have specific rules regarding prohibited content:
- Spam: Promotional posts or bot-generated content.
- Illegal Activities: Anything related to piracy, hacking, or illegal drug use.
- Personal Attacks: Threats, abuse, and disrespectful language.
- Discrimination: Racism, sexism, and any form of prejudice.

- NSFW Content: Sexually explicit material, excessive violence, and profanity (though some swearing is permitted).
- Unsuitable Topics: We reserve the right to prohibit discussions on topics deemed inappropriate for the community’s ethos.
- Trolling: Intentionally creating arguments or derailing conversations.
- Complaining About Moderation: Direct these concerns to [email protected].
- Complaining About Coverage: Constructive feedback is welcome, but repeated complaints about article selection, review scores, or “slow news days” are rarely helpful.
- Multiple Accounts: Using multiple accounts (alts) is prohibited.
Remember to keep the discussions respectful and constructive for everyone.
Enforcement: Consequences for Violations
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in comment deletion or temporary/permanent posting restrictions. We take a zero-tolerance approach to harassment and insulting language directed at our staff.
