What truly sets Infinite Wealth apart is its incredible vacation simulator aspect. Okay, maybe most vacations don’t involve pummeling hordes of enemies in broad daylight, but hear me out! Whether you’re strolling along Waikiki Beach, checking out the clientele of various resorts, browsing for new sandals at a luxurious mall, or zipping around on a Segway through some of Honolulu’s more colorful backstreets, this game’s rendition of Hawaii is simply breathtaking. Like any Yakuza game, Infinite Wealth also features an absolutely staggering number of unique minigames, many of which cleverly incorporate the tropical setting.
From Burgers to Animal Crossing: A Minigame Paradise
Crazy Delivery, a playful homage to Sega’s soon-to-be-revived Crazy Taxi series, lets you deliver burgers and pizzas all over Honolulu for tips. Expect plenty of near misses and spectacular stunts as you race against the clock. Then there’s Dondoko Island, Yakuza’s take on Animal Crossing. Here, you transform a derelict island from a haven for seedy criminals into a five-star resort. With countless pieces of furniture to craft and stores to build, you could easily lose dozens of hours in this mode alone.
Sicko Snap is like Pokémon Snap, but instead of capturing charming creatures, you’re snapping photos of… well, let’s just say “enthusiastic” tourists in speedos while riding a tourist trolley. In the early game, it’s a fantastic way to get your bearings and learn the city layout – and somehow, managing to capture these guys jiggling their bits next to a dumpster or behind a food truck is consistently hilarious.
