From Software’s latest creation is finally stepping into the limelight, and it’s poised to be playable in the very near future.

Dubbed The Duskbloods, the title was first unveiled last year as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, yet it has largely stayed in the shadows since. With a network test scheduled for next month, the game appears to be inching closer to its debut.

Registration for the closed network test has opened, allowing players to link their Nintendo accounts for a chance to experience the game when it launches at the end of August. Unfortunately, not every participant will be granted entry.

As an avid fan of From Software’s titles such as Elden Ring and Bloodborne, I’m naturally excited about this test, and even more curious than usual given the game’s historically guarded approach.

Step into the role of a Bloodsworn of Dusk, a supernatural entity empowered by blood, and engage in online skirmishes with up to eight players. Summoned to confront the Dusk of Humanity, players forge fleeting alliances or fierce rivalries while battling foes and vying for the coveted First Blood.

Positioned as a PvEvP experience, The Duskbloods promises a deeper immersion in From Software’s online multiplayer than titles such as Dark Souls, which traditionally emphasize cooperative play. The game blends competitive and cooperative elements, challenging players to defeat PvE bosses while simultaneously battling rivals in a fresh take on the extraction genre.

The closed network test for The Duskbloods is now open for registration. Interested participants can sign up through the official test portal, and the developers eagerly anticipate welcoming players into the Lands of Dusk.

The reception of this title will be closely watched, given From Software’s historical emphasis on optional multiplayer. Moreover, as a Switch 2 exclusive, the game targets a narrower, more dedicated audience than even the studio’s most demanding releases.
