Destiny 2 Legacy Collection Free on PlayStation Plus with Bungie’s Final Update

In a coordinated move, Sony has confirmed that Destiny 2’s highly anticipated Legacy Collection will debut on the PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe tiers on June 9, aligning with Bungie’s announcement that the final update will drop on June 10 in Australia.

“Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2025), including The Final Shape expansion, will be available for Extra and Premium/Deluxe members from June 9,” Sony declared in a post supporting its Days of Play initiative. “The rest of the Game Catalog lineup will be fully revealed next month.”

Analysis: This staggered release strategy positions Sony to drive subscriber growth ahead of the final content drop, while also creating a clear value proposition for PlayStation Plus members eager to access the full Destiny 2 experience.

Subscribers will gain access to the Legacy Collection, the free-to-play base game, and a host of additional content, excluding any vaulted material and the newer Edge of Fate or Star Wars-themed Renegades expansions.
