It was only ever going to be a matter of time, but I’m still surprised just how quickly Cyberpunk 2077 modders have taken pistol dual wielding mechanic the RPG’s Edgerunners 2 update has just added in, and opened it up to include any gun Night City has to offer. Yep, twinning shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, or any combo of those is now possible. Though, you’ll have to make peace with the fact enemies will struggle to match your firepower.

A number of different modders instantly decided to take on the task of extending the tag which governs Cyberpunk’s new dual wielding perk to include everything with a trigger. There’s Dual Wield Anything by long-time Cyberpunk modder E3roKK, Dual Wield Anything and Everything for 2.5 by Jollywankers, and Expanded Dual Wielding by JericoHellden. All three have been released within the last 24 hours.
JericoHellden’s mod also includes the option to control each gun separately, rather than CD Projekt Red’s default of automatically alternating between the two when firing. If you’re only interested in twinning pistols, but do want the ability to independently fire each gun, another new mod – Independent Pistol Controls (Dual Wielding) by Dederara – might be for you.
Here are clips showing Jollywankers’ (directly below) and Dederara’s (the further down of the two) works in action:
It’s worth noting that, in line with the reason CD Projekt Red gave for limiting it to pistols in their official update, dual wielding other guns without any measures in place to make enemies tougher does blunt the challenge of fighting your way through Night City. JericoHellden declared it a “janky and wildly overpowered” experience, and E3roKK made clear that anyone expecting animations not to get a bit clippy or awkward at times is barking up the wrong tree.
If you’re hoping to dual wield katanas, unfortunately it looks like melee weapons will take a bit more time to figure out properly, with some of these mods including them only as a ‘try it but don’t expect things to work yet’ afterthought to the ranged main course. Makes sense, given the official integration is designed for lead slingers rather than slappy cybersticks.
The latest version of Cyber Engine Tweaks, the framework mod needed for any Cybeprunk mod setup that’s not limited to the likes of light visual tweaks, is a requirement for all for of the mods mentioned here. Redscript is also needed for Expanded Dual Wielding.
