In a move that’s sending shockwaves through the gaming world, a hacker group calling themselves Cyberleek has released gameplay footage and map data from Grand Theft Auto 6. But this isn’t just another random leak; Cyberleek claims they are “fighting for gamer’s rights,” targeting Rockstar Games over specific business decisions.
A Leak with a Message
Unlike previous GTA 6 leaks, which seemed to be the work of opportunistic hackers, this one is clearly motivated. The group released a press statement alongside the leaked material, outlining three core principles – or “commandments” – that they believe Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, are violating.
The Hackers’ Commandments
The first commandment states: “Thou shalt not sell digital pre-orders.” The second targets the controversial $100 Ultimate Edition of GTA 6, which includes exclusive cosmetic items and access to in-game shops. Cyberleek argues that these additions are particularly egregious given the game’s strong role-playing community, where character customization is a core element.
“Thou shalt preserve single-player content,” declares the third commandment. This refers to Take-Two’s decision to launch GTA 6 without a physical version, raising concerns about potential long-term accessibility and support for the game.
A Warning to Publishers
The “about” page on Cyberleek’s website concludes with a direct threat to other publishers: “Behave, or be the next target.” This suggests that Cyberleek views their actions as part of a larger campaign against perceived injustices in the gaming industry.
Previous Attempts and Unconfirmed Claims
This isn’t the first time hackers have targeted Rockstar. Earlier in 2026, another group called ShinyHunters attempted to extort the company with a ransom threat. When Rockstar refused, the hackers released the information. Rockstar downplayed the impact of the leak.
Arion Kurtaj, the hacker who initially leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage in 2023, also tried to contact Rockstar directly, though the purpose of that communication remains unclear. He is currently awaiting trial and has reportedly continued to comment on his situation via social media.
Kurtaj previously claimed that he and his associates had access to GTA 6’s source code, a claim that has yet to be verified. The latest leak from Cyberleek raises serious questions about the security of unreleased games and the lengths to which some groups are willing to go to make their voices heard.
