It has been a good couple of weeks for Witchbrook news. After keeping an eye on Chucklefish’s witch RPG for years, we finally got a release date in last month’s Indie World Showcase (28th January, for those wondering), and now the developer has confirmed that Switch 1 & 2 players will be able to play with each other at launch.
As highlighted by Smash Jump, one of the game’s developers took to the Witchbrook Discord channel late last month to announce that Switch 1-to-2 crossplay would not be available at launch, but would be added down the line. Things changed in the ensuing week, it seems, as the dev later followed up the message with the following correction: “Update: Switch 1 and 2 will be able to play together”.

It’s not quite the full crossplay announcement that we’re sure many prospective witches out there are still hoping for (there’s still time), but the chance to play between Switch 1 and 2 is always a welcome one. With a game as wholesome-looking as this, we’d wager that we won’t be the only ones cosying up on the sofa with our hybrids as the main console for it.
Witchbrook was delayed last October, with the developer saying that it needed a little more time to beef up the world and its inhabitants. The latest glimpse we got of it in the recent Indie World sure looked dense, so we’re excited to see what it has all amounted to in January.
