Despite my penchant for over‑the‑top cosplay—think Oshi no Ko tee paired with a NewJeans‑themed backpack—I’ve found myself drawn to Zara’s latest fashion misstep, a cross‑body bag that looks oddly like a handheld gaming console.
Priced at $35.90 (or £19.99 / €22.95), the new sling draws inspiration from Sony’s iconic handheld, offering a sleeker aesthetic than Zara’s earlier attempts that mimicked the DualSense controller. Still, it’s undeniably a nerd‑centric statement piece.
The bag features a clear window that invites personalization: you could display badges of your favorite anime characters, or even stash a plush Toro Inoue inside to prove you’re not a tourist. It’s a playful nod to pop culture that feels both quirky and intentional.
While Zara’s target demographic remains a bit ambiguous, the design is clearly aimed at young, trend‑setting influencers who thrive on blending gaming culture with everyday fashion. As for me, I’m a bit past that age bracket, but the bag’s boldness is hard to ignore.
Sony’s latest collaboration with retailers to reintroduce classic accessories is a refreshing nod to nostalgia, showcasing the company’s commitment to blending retro charm with modern convenience.
