Bungie outlined its plans for the Destiny franchise, including Destiny ‘Legacy’ and Destiny 2 ‘Celebration’ releases, as well as a timeline for the Destiny 2 unvaulting.

In the Bungie Community Update blog post on Oct. 29, head of product Josh Deane shared more about what’s coming to Destiny 2 and the Destiny franchise. Apart from the content unvaulting, there are three anchors for future content: Destiny ‘Legacy,’ Destiny 2 ‘Celebration,’ and [REDACTED].

Deane highlighted that this is Bungie’s intent and is subject to change, depending on success or failure. “Once we get through this incubation, validation process, we’ll have earned the right to make the announcements you all deserve. And if not, exile,” the blog post wrote.
Bungie aims to release the following:

- Destiny 2 ‘Celebration’: A celebration in Destiny 2 beyond Monument of Triumph with new updates.
- Destiny ‘Legacy’: The whole Destiny experience, served where you play today.
- [REDACTED]: Launch Ventrilo message: ‘We’re back.’
As mentioned, ‘Celebration’ is a new content update for Destiny 2. At the same time, ‘Legacy’ will seemingly bring Destiny 1 to current platforms, likely including PC. Whether that’d be a port, a remaster, or a remake remains unclear. Více details about both, including a timeline, will come in February 2027.

As for Destiny 2 unvaulting, it enters production in February 2027. According to Bungie, the process will last 12 months, so the earliest you can expect to replay the campaigns is in 2028. However, there’s more than just campaigns, strikes, and raids coming back.
So far, Bungie has confirmed the following:
- Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind campaigns
- Strikes from the above expansions
- Raids and raid lairs from the above expansions
- Menagerie with reprised rewards
There are also several “stretch goals at unvaulting launch or after.” This includes free-roam destinations and related activities, such as Escalation Protocol on Mars, seasonal activities from Season 9 to Season 23, reprised raid weapons, and PvP maps.
However, a few things won’t make it into the unvaulting due to technical or strategic reasons. These include an updated New Světlý experience, old seasonal story missions, Kell’s Grave Gambit map, and seasonal hubs.
The path to the new Destiny future will take time, and the next date to look forward to is February 2027, when Bungie will provide the next major comms update.
