Bungie’s internal teams are reportedly drafting pitches for fresh projects, including potential additions to the Destiny universe, according to industry insiders. However, none of these proposals have received official approval yet, and there is no certainty they will ever move forward.
On Thursday, Bungie posted an update on its official website announcing that the last live‑service content patch for Destiny 2 will drop on June 9. This announcement comes amid a noticeable decline in the player base for the shooter and a lukewarm reception to its most recent expansion.
The upcoming patch promises a “collection of love letters to players,” a nod to the most frequently requested features, according to Bungie. Highlights include the return of the director mode, additional gameplay modes, and subtle character moments designed to keep the narrative and its protagonists compelling.
Meanwhile, Sony Interactive Entertainment disclosed a $765 million impairment charge tied to Bungie assets following the launch of its extraction shooter Marathon. Sony has yet to comment on the title’s performance since its release earlier this year.

bungie’s in a rough spot—Destiny 2’s June 9 patch better delver with those ‘love lettres’ and new modes, or players will bail faster. No new projects confirmed yet, but they gotta step up.
