Black Ops 7’s Zombies storyline ends with final new map in August, Rex Infernus

Activision and Treyarch have announced that the celebrated Zombies saga in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will conclude with the upcoming Season Five.

Season Five will drop next week, bringing fresh Zombies challenges, multiplayer tweaks, and Endgame additions. The ultimate map, Rex Infernus, will arrive later in August as part of the Season Five Reloaded update, featuring the climactic showdown.

Treyarch explained that the Warden’s corruption will be at its peak in the concluding chapter, unveiling a brand‑new round‑based map during the mid‑season release. Players will need to purge the Shadowsmiths’ strongholds and equip themselves with a fresh Wonder Weapon, GobbleGum, a Perk‑a‑Cola, and two additional ultra‑rare legacy items to endure the final clash.

The Zombies storyline and its diverse settings have captivated even the most skeptical fans, with last month’s standout round‑based map Kowakujō leading the charge. In Season Five, Kowakujō will receive Directed Mode, a brand‑new Survival map called Eidskallen Lighthouse will debut, and a host of additional modes and quality‑of‑life improvements will roll out.

Season 5 brings a fresh arsenal to Call of Duty: Black Ops II, featuring the FG42 assault rifle, the nimble Gremlin SMG, the heavy‑hitting Mammoth LMG, the brutal Mace melee weapon, and a host of other additions that signal the final major content push before the franchise pivots to Modern Warfare IV in October.

While many Call of Duty enthusiasts have migrated to the PS5 and PS4 ports of Black Ops I and II, the Zombies community still has a few more battles to fight. With a sixth season on the horizon—anticipated for September—players can expect one last wave of updates before the spotlight fully shifts to MW IV.

Season 5 launches on July 23, and Modern Warfare IV will be showcased at Fanatics Fest this week in New York City. The game’s beta dates are slated to be revealed shortly thereafter.
