According to a report for Gamer24h, the latest episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens have pushed the fictional nation of Ellora “to the brink of collapse,” as civil unrest, bandit attacks and government secrecy intensify alongside a fear-based infection spreading through the city.

Episodes 4, 5 and 6 — released Friday — transform the Haven into what the report describes as a “pressure cooker” of conflict. The story follows long-lost twin sisters Pavi and Nisha, who have been introduced in Book One: Survival alongside their guardian Karthik.

What is the Anomaly?

A major storm earlier this season — along with a strange diamond-shaped spirit monster that appeared with it — left behind bright red cubes growing out of the ground. These continue to expand, similar to the spirit vines from Korra’s era, but they are more than an eyesore.

Ellora maintains an entire sick ward dedicated to treating the “Afflicted,” citizens who have come under the influence of these cubes and the fear they instill. The number of infected appears to be rising. A doctor explains to Karthik (voiced by Akshay Khanna) that the Afflicted experience overwhelming fear and violent hallucinations.

Among them is Bountan, a firebender and former commander of the Bending Brigade who had a direct encounter with the Anomaly spirit in episode 2 that drove him mad.

While Karthik tours the sick ward, Pavi and Nisha catch up to him after visiting a doctor about Pavi’s leg. Their presence sends all the Afflicted into a frenzy — through their eyes, the Avatars appear as red-eyed, grinning demons. Because many of the Afflicted are benders, they charge through the hospital like “a rampaging horde of magic-powered zombies,” led by Bountan.

An important distinction emerges between the sisters: Nisha quickly subdues one Afflicted by encasing it in stone, while Pavi tries talking to another and uses earthbending to hide him. The report notes that “Pavi consistently demonstrates a greater degree of restraint and compassion compared to her sister,” making Pavi seem more like Aang and Nisha more like Korra.

“Because of this, Karthik realizes that fear isn’t just a symptom of the Afflicted; fear itself is the root cause.”

The outbreak spreads rapidly

This distinction explains why the outbreak spreads so quickly. Benders — such as Jae’s squadmate Yuki — are being abducted by masked bandits known as the “Faceless.” Rumors of the Avatar’s return spread, especially after a soldier saw the twins wield multiple elements in episode 4.

More people are becoming convinced that Chancellor Kayoko (Jennifer Sun Bell) and the Bending Brigade are hiding the truth. The report reminds readers that these citizens believe the last Avatar destroyed the world.

The diamond-shaped spirit returns

Episode 6 culminates in the return of the diamond-shaped spirit monster. As a fight between an Afflicted Bountan and Karthik spills into another hospital ward, the twins subdue Bountan using earthbending as red lightning crackles on the ground.

“The Spirit World has unleashed its wrath,” Bountan tells Karthik. “The fate of Ellora is in your hands.”

The entity quickly overpowers Karthik, so the twin sisters step forward to confront it. As its energy strikes their palms, the entity shifts until parallel to the ground. They are transported into a memory before the diamond passes through them and disappears. Karthik later identifies this as Energy Bending.

New memories about Pavi and Nisha’s parents

While encountering the Anomaly directly turns everyone else into Afflicted, it restores fragments of the twins’ missing memories instead. This time, they see themselves sleeping together while their parents speak nearby. Their mother asks how many days a journey will take; their father replies “two weeks,” if they can survive the Harshlands.

The report connects this to events three years ago. In episode 5, Karthik received a message instructing him to meet someone at a pickup location, told that the girl he needed to find would wear a bracelet with a green gem. A storm delayed him, and by the time he arrived, Nisha was there alone.

In episode 2, encountering the Anomaly spirit showed them a fragmented vision of four figures traveling through the Harshlands, an Anomaly storm, and one girl — presumably Pavi — falling.

The report also notes that Pavi believed she was born missing the lower part of her left leg, but after seeing a doctor about pain in it, he concluded she lost her leg within the last few years due to phantom-limb pain.

“It hasn’t been confirmed yet,” the report states, “but the easy conclusion here seems to be that the cause of the twins’ missing memories, Pavi’s injury, their parents’ disappearance and Karthik finding Nisha alone are all connected to the same incident in the Harshlands three years ago.”

The lullaby mystery

Pavi believes she was born missing the lower part of her left leg. When she sees a doctor about pain, he concludes she lost it within the last few years due to phantom-limb pain.

In episode 4, the twins remember a lullaby. Jae’s squadmate Uki — a firebender who had been tracking the Faceless before being abducted by them — sang it all the time, according to Daemin (Darren Barnet). Because Uki remains missing, the twins have not yet explored what that means or whether he is connected to their family.

Why Chancellor Kayoko contacts the other Havens

Episode 6 ends with Chancellor Kayoko using a radio tower to message the other Havens: “This is Ellora calling any and all Havens,” she says. “We need you.”

The report notes that Karthik had previously, and illegally, been in touch with at least one other Haven called “Akasha.” He reaches out presumably to warn his fellow White Lotus contacts that word of the Avatar is spreading; he had even tried convincing Kayoko to reach out for help.

Jae ultimately convinces the Chancellor to call for aid after a small riot of scared benders air their grievances. The report observes that despite the show’s title emphasizing seven havens, Seven Havens has focused exclusively on Ellora so far.

“Kayoko’s distress call may finally break the isolation that has defined Seven Havens so far — or nobody will hear it at all,” the report concludes, leaving open what really happened three years ago and why “the Anomaly wants Nisha and Pavi to remember.”

Avatar: Seven Havens is streaming on Paramount Plus.
