If the disappointing yet inevitable death of Mass Effect has left you feeling down, this new gameplay demo from Exodus might just help soothe the pain.
In case you weren’t already aware, Exodus is a sci-fi action-shooter RPG that draws obvious inspiration from BioWare’s beloved series, edging toward becoming a spiritual successor at this point.
The demo features dialogue, exploration, and combat. It even branches at certain points, showcasing both the Paladin (nice guy) and Immortal (ruthless guy) paths, which can alter the flow of events.
Exodus looks genuinely impressive. While part of me doubts it will be able to match Mass Effect in terms of iconic characters and incredible world-building, everything on display here is of an impressively high quality.
The combat in particular looks surprisingly technical and dynamic — and there’s still plenty of time for polish, since Exodus doesn’t release until April 7th next year.
Oh, and I should point out that this footage includes main character Jun’s brand new face. The male lead’s look was very recently remodeled based on fan feedback.
