In the middle of 2025, AMD broadened its desktop RX 9000 series with the introduction of the 9060 line, featuring the Radeon RX 9060 XT in 8 GB and 16 GB variants. This expansion left a noticeable gap between the 9060 and the higher‑tier 9070 models, a space that Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti could comfortably occupy. Fortunately, AMD had already addressed this niche in certain markets, notably China, with the 9070 GRE.

We had projected the 9070 GRE to sit comfortably between the 9060 XT and the 9070, leaning closer to the latter. Such positioning would allow it to outclass the GeForce 5060 Ti, especially in rasterization‑heavy titles, while still holding its own in ray‑traced environments.

At Computex 2026, AMD finally rolled out the 9070 GRE to the United States and several other regions, unveiling performance data that pits it directly against Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti. In standard rasterization—AMD’s term for “gaming”—the new card promises up to a 40% boost at 1440p, with standout gains expected in games like Monster Hunter: Wilds and Resident Evil: Requiem. The most comparable results appear in lighter titles such as Arc Raiders and Overwatch 2, which are less demanding than typical AAA releases.

Analyse: A 40% uplift in rasterized performance at 1440p positions the 9070 GRE as a formidable contender in the mid‑range market, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape against Nvidia’s mid‑tier offerings and influencing purchasing decisions for gamers prioritizing high frame rates.

In ray‑tracing scenarios, AMD claims a near‑equivalent advantage, touting up to a 30% improvement in titles like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Other demanding titles, such as Marvel’s Spider‑Man 2, could also benefit from a noticeable performance split between the Red and Green team cards.

In a significant move for the gaming industry, AMD has announced its new RX 9070 GRE, promising a 22% improvement in performance on average compared to the Nvidia 5060 Ti, and a staggering 26% better value. The company has priced the RX 9070 GRE at $549, undercutting the $569 price point of the 5060 Ti 16GB, as per the lowest available pricing data on Newegg.

Interested gamers can now compare the specifications of the new AMD RX 9070 GRE with other cards in the 9000 series. For a comprehensive analysis of how it fares against competitors and other AMD cards, be sure to check out our full review, set for release tomorrow.
