How to unlock Apex Attachments in MW4
Apex Attachments are special weapon modifications that unlock when you reach the maximum level of a supported weapon. Unlike standard Gunsmith attachments, they are equipped separately and do not use one of your regular attachment slots. However, some Apex attachments prevent you from equipping certain standard attachment types because of how they change the weapon.

To unlock an Apex Attachment in Modern Warfare 4, use a supported weapon in Multiplayer or DMZ to earn Weapon XP and level it up to its maximum level. Once unlocked, equip the Apex Attachment through Gunsmith.
Apex Attachments can significantly change how a weapon performs rather than simply improving its stats. For example, the M4’s Hurricane conversion turns it into a high-capacity, faster-firing weapon chambered in 5.7x28mm, while the ISO Nightshade’s Trace modification adds target-tracking functionality.
Optic attachment change in MW4
Modern Warfare 4 introduces additional control over optic positioning in Gunsmith. Instead of accepting the default placement on a weapon’s rail, you can adjust where an optic sits to suit your preferred sight picture. You can enter the Firing Range and aim down sights to check whether the new position works for you before deploying into a match.

MW4 weapons FAQ
How many weapons are in Modern Warfare 4?
MW4 launches with 33 weapons: 24 primary weapons, eight secondary weapons, and one melee weapon.
Do Apex Attachments use a Gunsmith attachment slot?
No. Apex Attachments are equipped separately from standard Gunsmith attachments, so they do not consume one of your regular attachment slots.
Can you unlock MW4 weapon attachments across multiple guns?
Yes. MW4 uses a shared attachment unlock system. Once you unlock a standard attachment, it becomes available for other weapons that support it. If a weapon level would award an attachment you already own, you receive a Bonus Level Up instead.
