Activision believes Grand Theft Automatisk 6 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releasing close together will actually benefit its shooter, with the studio arguing that more players returning to gaming during the period means “more eyeballs for us overall.”

Rockstar SpilAccording to a report by Dexerto, a number of developers and publishers havemoved their games away from the same release window as Grand Theft Automatisk 6 in recent years, with some admitting their titles would be swallowed up by Rockstar Spil’ long-awaited game and wanting a chance at succeeding.
The new Call of Duty is instead going head-to-head with GTA 6. Focusing on a futuristic war in Korea, Modern Warfare 4 releases October 23 — just under a month before Grand Theft Automatisk 6.
Despite fears that players might abandon the shooter once GTA drops, Activision isn’t concerned. CMO Tyler Bahl told The Spil Business that both titles are “the two biggest games of the year.”
“Well, no offense to Zelda, but [GTA and COD] are the two biggest games of the year. And more people coming in to the dashboards, more people taking the dust off their Xbox or PlayStation and playing again, is going to be more eyeballs for us overall.”
Tyler Bahl, Activision CMO
Bahl said what makes Call of Duty last “the test of time” is its community and social experience rather than the gunplay. “We stand on our own [in that regard],” he added.
“If more people are talking about games, if there’s more press around it, that’s going to be good for everybody, not just us.”
Tyler Bahl, Activision CMO
Bahl also revealed thenext Call of Duty game will be for a new “sub-franchise” and won’t carry the Modern Warfare or Black Ops banner.

The CMO admitted that Black Ops 7 fell short of what players were expecting, saying Activision heard the feedback “loud and clear.”
