According to publisher Gaijin Entertainment, Active Matter has now officially sold more than half a million copies across PC, PS5 and Xbox platforms.
In a recent press release, it was announced that the hardcore supernatural shooter Active Matter has surpassed the 500,000 milestone, crediting its “largest share” of players to Xbox.
“Active Matter has surpassed 500,000 copies sold worldwide across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The figure combines sales on Steam and Gaijin. Net with console versions of the game, with Xbox currently representing the largest share of Active Matter players.”

Selling half a million copies in less than a month is a strong result for a new IP, especially with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and updates to Battlefield 6 to compete against. What makes this notable is that the majority of Active Matter players seem to favour Xbox as their platform of choice.
One might expect a hardcore shooter of this kind to be more popular on PC, but because the FPS supports Xbox Play Anywhere, it could be argued that this swayed things in favour of Xbox.
Gaijin co-founder Anton Yudintsev also noted that “sales have remained remarkably steady since launch,” and is now looking toward post-release content as the next major step later this year.
To be honest, I haven’t managed to give Active Matter a go yet – these PvPvE extraction shooters aren’t always my cup of tea. However, I’m a big fan of the game finding success on my platform of choice. It almost makes me want to get involved, just knowing the community is out there.
So to wrap things up, if you haven’t heard of Active Matter before, we’ll leave you with an official description and some screenshots to look at below.
