GTA 5 Gets a “GTA 6 Wanted System” Mod, and It’s Hilariously Chaotic

In the never-ending quest to either transform Grand Theft Auto 5 into a PC version of GTA 6 or simply break it entirely, one dedicated modder has taken on an ambitious project: recreating GTA 6’s wanted system within the existing framework of Rockstar’s beloved open-world crime simulator. The result? A hilariously chaotic experience that perfectly captures the spirit of both games.

Bringing Vice City to Los Santos

The mod, aptly named “GTA 6 Wanted System,” aims to replicate the enhanced police AI and pursuit mechanics showcased in early previews of GTA 6. Unlike previous iterations where cops were easily shaken off with a simple change of clothes, this mod introduces features like facial recognition and clothing identification, making it significantly harder to evade law enforcement.

The creator describes the process as akin to witnessing a pivotal moment in Civilization when a wonder is constructed – a brief period of unity where everyone puts aside their differences to witness something truly special. Of course, this idyllic vision was likely juxtaposed with those without Netflix subscriptions continuing their less-than-peaceful activities.

Testing the Limits of Law Enforcement

The mod immediately brings a more realistic and challenging experience to GTA 5. Cops now remember your physical description and clothing, making it much harder to simply ditch your outfit to lose them. You’ll need to actively anonymize yourself to truly evade pursuit.

Our intrepid tester put the system through its paces, opening fire on unsuspecting pedestrians in downtown Los Santos. The cops quickly compiled a profile, including their expensive attire. While this didn’t immediately lead to capture (thanks to the usual GTA 5 shenanigans like rogue vehicles and gang warfare), it did theoretically improve their chances of apprehension.

Attempts to evade capture by changing clothes were met with unexpected obstacles, such as stores refusing service to individuals surrounded by armed officers. This forced a frantic dash through the chaotic streets of Los Santos in search of a new shirt.

A Divine Stamp of Approval

Even San Andreas’ barbers are more discerning, it seems. The stylist, while changing their appearance, remarked that their outfit was “Goooooorgeous,” seemingly offering a divine blessing on their attempt to evade justice.

The ultimate test involved standing directly in front of the police station. While they didn’t immediately recognize the player, they did notice the shotgun and the player’s inability to holster it using the keyboard. The ensuing firefight resulted in the player’s demise, but deemed the mission a success.
