Now, a Discord user named “stayonthegrindd” is emerging as a person of interest, potentially bringing law enforcement closer to identifying the culprit.

On August 25th, Vice Cit, an active member of the GTA Forums, published a detailed report highlighting new evidence linking “stayonthegrindd” to Cyberleek. This report, based on analysis of original Reddit posts and tracking of Cyberleek’s blockchain activity, presents compelling reasons to believe this Discord user is connected to the leak.
A Timeline of Events
The report meticulously outlines a timeline that connects “stayonthegrindd” to key moments in the leak. On August 16th, Cyberleek shared the first images of the game’s map. The following day, a notorious basketball gameplay video surfaced on the dark web. Then, on August 18th, a user named “Cyberleeker” posted the same basketball video on the Dread forum (a Reddit-like platform). Just eight hours later, “stayonthegrindd” joined the Grand Theft Auto 6 Discord server. Within minutes, they shared the same basketball video and immediately deleted it. This user claimed the footage was from 2026 and asked server members what gameplay they wanted to see. When one member requested “car driving,” “stayonthegrindd” responded that they would soon share car gameplay footage and even hinted at sharing the entire map quickly. Approximately an hour and a half later, the leaked map was uploaded to the blockchain. Two hours after that, the first GTA 6 gameplay video (featuring Jason driving) was uploaded by Cyberleek.
A Deleted Message and a Crucial Video
On August 18th, another Discord user claimed to have seen the beginning of a GTA 6 gameplay video sent to them via direct message by “stayonthegrindd,” which was then deleted. This video, later known as the “Gas” footage, surfaced days later on August 23rd, uploaded to the blockchain.
Who is Cyberleek? What Does It All Mean?
As Vice Cit points out, this timeline is crucial. While it’s possible that “stayonthegrindd” simply stumbled upon the basketball video online or is a friend of someone with access to the leaked materials, the evidence suggests a deeper connection. Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, likely had knowledge of these leaks well before they became public and has been actively investigating. Vice Cit’s assessment aligns with my own: “stayonthegrindd” is either Cyberleek or part of the group responsible for the leak and had access to the leaked materials.
