This means that instead of a physical disc or cartridge, buyers will receive a box containing a voucher that needs to be redeemed on the eShop. This redemption process locks the game to that specific Nintendo account, effectively preventing resale and raising concerns within the gaming community.
VGP has announced that they will not be stocking the Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 due to this format. “The future of physical gaming should concern every physical game fan,” VGP stated on X. “And if it’s just a box with a download code inside, VGP won’t be carrying it. We believe physical games should actually be physical games.” This stance reflects a growing sentiment among gamers who value the tangible ownership and resale options that traditional physical copies offer.
