Get ready to dive back into the unsettling world of Control! Remedy Entertainment has officially announced that Control Resonance, the long-awaited sequel, has gone gold. This means development is complete and the game is ready for release on September 24th for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S. However, there’s a slight snag: the physical edition of the game will be delayed.
A Slight Delay for Physical Copies
Remedy shared the news via their official X account, accompanied by a celebratory image of the development team. While the digital version is still on track for its September 24th release, those eager to get their hands on a physical copy will have to wait until October 15th. Remedy explained that they needed “just a little more time to deliver the physical version to you, but rest assured — nothing stays contained forever.” A three-week delay isn’t ideal, especially for collectors, but it’s better than rushing a potentially flawed product.

A New Approach to Combat and Exploration
Control Resonance builds upon the foundation of its predecessor while introducing significant changes to gameplay mechanics. Players will step into the shoes of Dylan Faden, battling through a twisted version of Manhattan. Unlike Control’s third-person shooting focus, Resonance leans heavily into melee combat, offering a more hack-and-slash experience. While not strictly an open-world game, the map features expansive zones designed to encourage exploration and player freedom.
A Longer Journey Through the Remedy Universe

Prepare for a longer adventure! Due to its larger scope, Control Resonance is expected to take significantly more time to complete than the original. While Control’s main story clocks in at around 12 hours, Remedy estimates that players will spend roughly 30 hours experiencing the sequel’s narrative and exploring its world. This extended playtime allows for a deeper dive into the game’s lore and characters.
Remedy is poised to deliver another unique experience with Control Resonance, even if it represents a departure from some familiar elements. Fans are particularly excited to see how the game connects to the broader Remedy Universe, and whether any beloved characters from the Alan Wake series will make an appearance. Mark your calendars for September 24th (digital) and October 15th (physical) – the wait is almost over!
