Black Ops 7’s final Zombies map arrives with big

The annual rhythm of Call of Duty is drawing to a close, and with it, the saga of Black Ops 7’s Zombies storyline is concluding.

On August 20 at 11 a.m. Central Time, the new round‑based Zombies map, Rex Infernus, will launch alongside its overarching quest. This release is poised to become the final CoD Zombies map for the foreseeable future, as the upcoming Modern Warfare 4, slated for October, introduces the DMZ extraction mode and omits the Zombies feature entirely.

Meanwhile, the Season Five Reloaded update, which includes the new Zombies map, will debut in Black Ops 7 just a day before Modern Warfare 4’s beta launch on August 21, leaving players with limited time to complete the map before potentially switching to the new title.

Treyarch teased the new map with the line: “As reality teeters on the brink of annihilation, the crew confronts their ultimate test. Purge the Shadowsmiths’ strongholds, locate the Warden’s hidden sanctum, and terminate his vile existence. All paths converge here—can the crew rise to the challenge and rescue reality? Respond to the summons to discover the answer.”

Treyarch has deliberately cloaked the new map, Rex Infernus, in mystery, letting players uncover its secrets during the upcoming live stream in ZombieZone. While the map’s details remain under wraps, one element is clear: the terrifying Deathspinner foe. Developers caution that while a single Deathspinner can be handled, a swarm can quickly overwhelm.

Treyarch warns that the Web Mother is an even greater threat. The creature roars, lunges, and drips webs that not only inflict damage and slow players but also entrap zombies, turning them into dangerous environmental traps.

In short, those with a fear of spiders should perhaps steer clear of this map.

The update also brings back Widow’s Wine as a Perk‑a‑Cola, featuring fresh Minor and Major Augments.

Season Five Reloaded will enrich the Mystery Box with Ultra‑Rare weapons, notably the TR2 marksman rifle and the Olympia shotgun.

On August 20 at 11 a.m. Central Time, Call of Duty: Black Ops VII will launch its Season Five Reloaded update, immediately followed by the unveiling of Call of Duty Next on August 21. The Next event will spotlight the franchise’s future titles, including Modern Warfare IV, DMZ, and Warzone.
