After 23 years, a dedicated player has uncovered cheat codes buried in Nintendo’s 2003 GameCube release of F-Zero GX, unlocking event-only “Gold Parts” that were previously thought lost to time.
The Japanese player BTEST4HE discovered the codes and shared them on X (formerly Twitter), revealing eight unique cheat commands available in every version of the game. Each code unlocks specific sets of parts purchasable through the in-game shop, including the coveted Gold Parts that fans had long pursued as a “white whale” for the community.
The Gold Parts were originally unlockable only by attending in-person promotional events held in Japan during the game’s launch window. As those limited-time events have passed two decades ago, obtaining these parts outside of homebrew methods seemed impossible—until now.
The codes work regardless of region or hardware system. They function on the original GameCube version, the Nintendo Wii release, and even the Nintendo Classics version available on the Nintendo Switch 2, according to BTEST4HE’s post.
There is a significant caveat, however. Five of the eight codes—including those that unlock the Gold Parts—require four controllers to be used simultaneously. This means players would need either three friends or an unusual number of arms to complete these particular commands.
BTEST4HE’s discovery effectively resolves a mystery the community had considered unsolvable for over two decades, though how the codes were uncovered remains unclear.
