Konami is already looking beyond its first wave of new Silent Hill releases, with series producer Motoi Okamoto saying the company is considering “a number of projects” for what he described as upcoming “second and third waves”.

Talking to Famitsu, Okamoto said Konami was thinking about what comes next after its initial run of games. “Successfully launching this ‘first wave’ comes with great relief, but we’re not stopping here; we must think of the second and third waves,” he said. “We can’t share specific details, but we’re currently looking at a number of projects.”

Okamoto noted that all three titles initially announced had been released successfully and received high praise. “All three titles we initially announced were able to be released successfully, so we’re relieved (laughs),” he said. “They’ve also received high praise, and we are satisfied with it.”

The producer also hinted that it took some effort to convince Konami executives, stressing that a single remake would not be enough. “As a producer, I cannot let it end only with that,” he said. “If there were only one release, wouldn’t people think that the development is going to be cancelled again, I thought.”

Silent Hill: Townfall was released this week and earned four out of five stars in Eurogamer’s review. The publication described it as “an often phenomenal ride; reverent to its roots, rich with ideas, and yes, properly unnerving too”, adding that Resident Evil and Silent Hill have “bookended the year with their own distinctive highs”.

The franchise was revived in 2022 when Konami announced a wave of projects at once: the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and the movie Return to Silent Hill. The Short Message was later released separately.

Okamoto said the key to the revival was “cherishing” a “strong psychological horror narrative”. “As long as that remains intact, we feel that we can be more liberal and experimental with what kind of gameplay we take,” he said at the time. He pointed to how Silent Hill 2, last year’s Silent Hill f, and Townfall are all different gameplay experiences.

Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, is now working on a remake of the original Silent Hill, which Konami announced in June 2025.
