Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s extraction-based DMZ mode will be playable starting Tuesday, October 20—three days before the game launches. Campaign early access begins earlier, on October 16.
To access DMZ before everyone else, players need to preorder any edition of MW4, including the standard or Vault versions. The perk applies across all platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.

Described as the “definitive extraction shooter experience,” DMZ in MW4 is an open-world game mode featuring other human players and AI combatants. Players will search the map for loot, craft gear, and complete objectives. As with other extraction-based games, you need to reach the exfil point to make it out with all your rewards.
DMZ originally debuted with 2022’s MW3 as a free-to-play beta inside Warzone, but this version left a lot to be desired. The new version of DMZ for MW4 seems like a big step up, and it includes a new social space this time as well.
