The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has already received multiple hotfixes since its launch less than two weeks ago, with the latest being patch 5.01, released Oct. 9. According to Polygon, the update addressed visual issues players had reported on PC and consoles as well as poor optimization on PlayStation 5.
The remaster improved nearly every aspect of the RPG, but many players noticed the environment looked washed out — an issue traced to the bloom setting, a lighting effect meant to enhance visuals. A full list of changes is available here.
CD Projekt Red responded quickly. Patch 5.01 adjusted bloom as well as ray tracing, path tracing, character lighting, and tone mapping.

The update also adds customization options that were previously limited to PC: players can now toggle bloom off entirely in settings, and adjust light shafts and depth of field. Console players will benefit from improved performance thanks to the patch’s optimizations.
On PC, the fix addressed dynamic resolution scaling. Patch 5.01 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, while CD Projekt Red continues developing a separate version for Nintendo Switch 2.
The update affects thousands of players — including those who obtained a free copy through a duplication loophole.
Despite the changes, fans still reported bugs and requested further fixes in the comments on the patch notes post. CD Projekt Red is expected to consider this feedback ahead of its next update.
