Nitrate Games pulled back the curtain on its upcoming farming simulator, Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture, Thursday at New York Comic Con, unveiling the first gameplay footage alongside confirmation that the title functions as an unofficial sequel within Kevin Smith’s beloved View Askewniverse. The reveal came with an exclusive first trailer for the game, which IGN was able to share ahead of its wider rollout.
The announcement marks a notable moment at the intersection of gaming and cult cinema, pairing Nitrate Games’ proven expertise in cozy farming sims with one of modern indie film’s most quotable duos. Smith, who voices Silent Bob alongside Jason Mewes’s titular Jay, has been involved as a creative force from the project’s inception, according to the studio.
A Growing Game for the View Askewniverse
At its core, Joint Venture tasks players with cultivating a cannabis operation through the comedic lens of Jay and Silent Bob. The game leans heavily into the irreverent tone that has defined Smith’s films since his 1994 debut, Clerks, while adopting the relaxing, progression-driven structure that has made Nitrate Games’ catalog so popular.

Kevin Smith
The studio emphasized that Joint Venture is more than a licensed novelty. According to co-founder Montana Sommese, the game continues the narrative thread left dangling by the films.
“Joint Venture is a Jay and Silent Bob game, but it’s actually a continuation of Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse. The central narrative picks up where the films left off, making the game a kind of sequel. Players can befriend and engage with their favorite characters from Kevin Smith’s movies like never before. As we update the game over time, we’re excited to be able to expand Kevin’s story universe with narrative updates that will continue building from his cinematic universe.”

A Roster of Beloved Characters
The NYCC panel confirmed that a wide array of familiar faces from across Smith’s filmography will appear within Joint Venture. Players can expect to encounter Dante, Randal, and Veronica from Clerks; Brodie and T.S. Quint from Mallrats; Holden, Banky, Hooper, and Alyssa from Chasing Amy; Azrael and Serendipity from Dogma; Becky and Elias from Clerks II; and the ever-present Mooby.
This deep-cut roster signals that the studio intends to reward longtime fans of the franchise while offering newcomers a gateway into Smith’s interconnected cinematic world. The promise of ongoing narrative updates suggests the universe will continue to expand well beyond the game’s initial launch, with new story content layered in over time.
