Marvel is bringing its heroes back onto the small screen this October, and the release schedule for its upcoming Disney+ limited series VisionQuest has arrived with a decidedly unconventional rhythm. The eight-episode show — widely billed as the pseudo-sequel to 2021’s WandaVision and 2024’s Agatha All Along — will premiere on Oct. 14, according to fresh reports, concluding its run well before Avengers: Doomsday reaches theaters in December. Rather than adhering to a standard weekly cadence or dumping all episodes at once, the series will unfold through an unusual staggered pattern that has fans and critics alike taking note.
The announcement confirms what latest reports had already suggested: VisionQuest is deliberately breaking from Disney+’s traditional rollout model. While most of the streamer’s original shows settle into a predictable once-a-week schedule, Marvel appears to be experimenting with something new for this entry in its television lineup.
An Unusual Release Pattern
As with previous Disney+ productions, VisionQuest will open with a two-episode premiere on Oct. 14, giving viewers an immediate taste of the story before settling into its broader arc. But after that strong start, things get a bit stranger. New episodes will not arrive one at a time each week, nor will they all drop simultaneously in a binge-friendly block.

Instead, following the two-episode kickoff, subsequent installments will be released in two-episode batches on a weekly basis — until the final stretch of the series. The last two episodes will break from that pattern entirely, arriving one per week to build toward the finale. Under this reported schedule, viewers can expect Episodes 3 and 4 on Oct. 21, followed by Episodes 5 and 6 on Oct. 28, with Episode 7 landing on Nov. 4 and the series-finishing Episode 8 concluding the run on Nov. 11.
This approach confirms that the show will wrap up well before Avengers: Doomsday is released in theaters, giving audiences plenty of time to catch up in case any characters appear in the upcoming film — a strategic move given how deeply Vision’s story is woven into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What Is VisionQuest About
VisionQuest focuses on Paul Bettany’s Vision following the events of WandaVision, picking up as his character continues to grapple with the aftermath of that series and the death of his wife, Wanda Maximoff. Much of the show appears to take place in a digital space that could be within Vision’s own mind — a surreal landscape where viewers encounter plenty of android and AI characters from previous Marvel projects rendered in human form.
That roster includes FRIDAY, EDITH, JARVIS, and Ultron. While there are some glimpses of Vision and Ultron’s robotic forms, most of the series keeps its leads in human guise — a choice that simply means James Spader can ham it up as much as possible as the iconic villain.
Marvel has been billing VisionQuest as the conclusion to the trilogy that started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. In it, Vision will go on a journey — a quest even — to track down his family, specifically his son Tommy. Depending on how the series ends, we could see Vision and Tommy in Doomsday, tying the television storyline back into the theatrical slate.

Bettany has not been confirmed for the film, though the Russo brothers have said several appearances are being kept secret regarding the upcoming crossover. That deliberate vagueness has only fueled speculation about which beloved characters might return from across the franchise when Doomsday arrives.
Looking Ahead
With a premiere date locked in for Oct. 14 and an eight-episode arc stretching through Nov. 11, VisionQuest is shaping up to be one of Disney+’s most closely watched launches of the year. The unusual release schedule — two episodes
