The long-awaited follow-up to Kena: Bridge of Spirits arrives as a character-focused linear adventure, though Ember Lab promises a broader and deeper scope than its predecessor. A Return to Kena’s Roots
Before the events of Scars of Kosmora, players are reintroduced to Kena as a Spirit Guide, an equal parts warrior and spiritual healer. The studio explains that when the dead cannot move on peacefully, dangerous manifestations of their pain infect the surrounding environment. Spirit Guides dedicate themselves to fighting back this Corruption in order to reach the heart of each underlying issue.
The ancient Spirit Guides of Kosmora developed a unique approach centered around four elements and Alchemystic Temples. Four interconnected cultures once thrived across the island, each guided by an element that fueled its society before a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one of them. Since that disaster, the spiritual symbolism of the elements has faded into Kosmora’s distant past.
The guiding elements still play a significant role in how each surviving culture lives today, though Ember Lab warns that danger grows as ancient wisdom remains buried. These complex Spirit Guide temples form a substantial part of the experience, offering dungeon-style challenges that test players’ skills and reward them with transformative prizes that propel Kena’s adventure forward.
