The studio behind the viral hit Vampire Survivors has officially delayed its highly anticipated Jujutsu Kaisen crossover. Poncle, the developer responsible for the roguelike phenomenon that captivated millions of players worldwide, announced today that Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton will now launch in 2027 rather than its previously targeted 2026 window. The studio revealed this June and was initially set for a 2026 release date. Unfortunately, the game’s latest trailer confirms it has been delayed to 2027, which is also when the next season of the anime is expected to be released.
The timing appears deliberate on Poncle’s part. By aligning the game’s launch with the upcoming anime season, the studio positions itself to capitalize on renewed interest in the franchise as new viewers discover the cursed sorcerers and their battles against evil spirits. The delay provides additional development time for a title that blends two distinct genres into something entirely new.
A Unique Blend of Genres
The Steam page describes Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton as “a survivors royale where you battle cursed spirits, rivals, and grow stronger throughout the match. Outscore other contestants on your way to the final showdown. Defeat enemies, build your loadout, unlock rule-changing effects, and fight to become the last player standing victorious.” The game supports eight-person online play and includes a solo mode.
The description makes it sound like a mixture of Vampire Survivors‘ escalating roguelike elements with the gradual eliminations of a battle royale. Notably, the premise is quite similar to the anime’s ongoing Culling Games arc, where powerful sorcerers battle each other in a murderous tournament orchestrated by an unhinged villain. Just like in the anime, when players reach 100 points, they can introduce a new “rule” to disrupt their foes.
We are committed to delivering an experience that honors both the incredible world of Jujutsu Kaisen and the addictive gameplay loop our fans love. This additional time allows us to refine every detail, from character movements to cursed technique effects, ensuring a truly authentic adaptation.

What the Latest Trailer Shows
The latest trailer showcases several playable characters, including Yuji, Nobara, Megumi, Maki, Choso, Gojo, and Yuta, promising more than 20 fighters in total. At one point, we see various bosses, such as Jogo, Geto, and the most punchable antagonist of all, Mahito. These bad guys can appear mid-round, adding extra chaos to every match.

We also see several characters’ unique cursed techniques, which players can activate when they fill the bar on the left side of the screen, letting them clear waves of spirits. Defeating common enemies grants experience points, which can be used to upgrade your character for the round and unlock new skills. This progression system mirrors the satisfying power curve that made Vampire Survivors a cultural phenomenon.
While Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton doesn’t make a huge impression at first glance, the fact that the studio behind Vampire Survivors is developing it means it could be another impossible-to-put-down hit. The community has responded enthusiastically to the announcement, with fans eagerly discussing character balance and hoping their favorite sorcerers receive faithful treatment.
Looking Ahead
The extended development timeline gives Poncle the time it needs to make something great. As the studio continues refining the game’s mechanics, players can expect more detailed reveals about the full roster of fighters, additional cursed techniques, and potential seasonal content as the franchise evolves.
With the anime’s next season slated for 2027 and the game following suit, both projects appear poised to fuel each other’s success. Fans who have been waiting for a proper Jujutsu Kaisen video game adaptation will need to exercise patience, but the combination of Poncle’s proven design expertise and the beloved source material suggests something special is in development.
