Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that it will not patch the most significant bug in Diablo 4‘s current season, acknowledging that a broken interaction with the new Hellfire Torch charm is granting players far more power than the game was designed to allow. The studio said it will let the exploit stand for now while developers work toward correcting it in a future update.
The bug centers on the Hellfire Torch, a Unique charm introduced this season that counts as an additional set charm and grants powerful bonuses including +All Skills, +All Stats, and +All Resistances. Under normal rules, players can only equip one Unique charm at a time, but the Torch already breaks that limit by letting players pair it with another Unique charm. The current glitch takes things further still, allowing three Unique charms to be equipped simultaneously rather than two.
A Broken Synergy That Stacks Power
The exploit appears to originate from a specific ordering of items. Players first equip the Hellfire Torch alongside the Seal of the Golden Epiphany, an artifact that lets them equip up to three Unique charms. They then swap out the Golden Epiphany for the Mythic Seal of the Diamond Mind, which reduces the number of charms required to trigger set bonuses while still permitting additional Unique charms to remain equipped.
The result is a character benefiting from a full five-piece set bonus, the Hellfire Torch, and two more Unique charms all at once. That combination produces power levels that far exceed what Blizzard intended for any single build in Season 15.
“We know many players have spent significant time earning the Hellfire Torch and building characters around it. Because of that, we want to be thoughtful about making adjustments mid-season that could disrupt those investments.”
Dan Tanguay, Diablo 4 Design Director
In a forum post, design director Dan Tanguay confirmed the studio is aware of the situation and admitted that the Torch’s current behavior falls “beyond what was originally intended.” Rather than issuing an emergency fix, Blizzard chose to let players continue using the interaction this season while it works out a proper solution.
Why Blizzard Is Letting It Ride
Tanguay explained that the decision comes down to respecting player investment in a build many people have already committed significant time to. He also pointed to the warm reception the Hellfire Torch has received from the community, noting that it has generated real excitement this season.

“While we don’t have anything to announce today, it is something we’re considering for the future, which makes it even more important that we fully understand and address this interaction the right way.”
Dan Tanguay, Diablo 4 Design Director
The studio added that it will keep investigating the issue so that any eventual change is “implemented correctly and behaves as intended,” rather than being rushed out to quickly remove a beloved item.
A Season Full of Surprises
The bugged Hellfire Torch interaction is only part of what has made this one of Diablo 4’s most unexpected seasons. Players can also leverage similar tricks to bypass the game’s crafted Mythic item restriction, effectively equipping themselves with fully decked-out Mythic gear that was never meant to be attainable.
Season 15, titled Hell’s Legacy, has packed in content drawn from across the franchise, including boss encounters against Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto lifted directly from earlier games. It has also buried a wealth of secrets, featuring a showdown with the cow god Moophisto and even the return of Whimsyshire, the secret pony level originally found in Diablo 3.
Looking Ahead
While Diablo 4 will continue to receive new seasons going forward, Blizzard has confirmed it won’t be getting further expansions. The studio is instead shifting its focus toward Diablo 5. A new class for the game, the Amazon, is set to arrive as standalone DLC in the first half of 2027.
For now, players looking to take advantage of Season 15’s most powerful builds can do so without fear of an immediate nerf. Whether Blizzard ultimately decides to rein in the Hellfire Torch when it finally addresses the interaction remains to be seen, but the studio has made clear that any fix will come only once it fully understands how the exploit works.
