The world of 007 is buzzing once again, and this time it’s not just rumors – it’s a seasoned actor dropping some serious hints. Gary Oldman, known for his incredible range and recent work with Jack Lowden in “Slow Horses,” has strongly suggested that his co-star might be the one to step into James Bond’s impeccably tailored shoes.
A Subtle Hint or Inside Information?
During an interview with
to promote “Slow Horses” Season 6, Oldman playfully teased the possibility of Lowden taking on the iconic role. While stopping short of a definitive confirmation, his words were loaded with implications:
“Jack… it’s been rumored that he’s on the shortlist, or he’s one of… we’re gonna find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice. But they have not announced it yet. So, my fingers are crossed for Jack.”

This news comes after months of speculation and reports about the casting process for the next James Bond. In June, it was reported that
Amazon had narrowed its shortlist of actors to play 007
in director Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming movie, with a second round of auditions set for August. The
casting process officially began in the spring
. At the time, Deadline reported that Harris Dickinson, Callum Turner, and Jacob Elordi “fit the prototype” of what producers were looking for from the next Bond.
Amazon was said to be planning to make an announcement by the end of this year, with shooting set to kick off in 2027. There’s currently no release date for Bond 26, but presumably it will debut in 2028.
